Lang’s Jewelry Store is one of the oldest family owned businesses in the area. Purchased in 1916 by Hugo August Lang, the established jewelry business has been in the same location for over 100 years. With the passing of his father in 2003, Roger became the third generation to own and operate Lang’s. Roger and his wife Judith Anne have done extensive remodeling to the building and with the addition of new gift and jewelry lines they have brought about a new look. Interior remodeling revealed the original tin ceiling and old photos provided the inspiration for the lighting and décor. Remodel of the exterior used the original cast iron store front, which had been stored in the basement for 40 years as well as the original double doors and brass hardware. The Lang’s are proud of the family heritage on Main Street still hold on to the independent business owner’s dream.
A full service jewelry store, Lang’s carries a range of product for all customers. Silver products have always been a mainstay and the reintroduction of baby and children’s gifts by Reed and Barton helps fill the wall cases. Reed and Barton’s crystal line by Miller Rogaska is a natural addition as well as Hagarty’s silver cleaners. The jewelry cases glisten with diamonds and gemstones in a variety of styles. Antique jewelry and pocket watches compliment the William Henry knives and Dolan Bullock men’s line. Lang’s still provides the quality and price customers have come to expect over the past 90 years.
As much as things change they also remain the same. Young couples still purchase wedding rings, new grandparents still buy baby jewelry, families still look for mother’s rings and fashion still dictates trends in design. Lang’s has been helping old and new customers with their jewelry selections for over 90 years. Yet it is still a place where some “stay a spell” to share a story or joke, a place whose reputation is still important, and a place you know you can trust for the best quality and price.
